I worked closely with Luke Halls Studio to translate the visual language of classical paintings by artists such as Canaletto and Rembrandt into immersive, frameless 360° environments.

Challenge

Challenge

Challenge

Respecting the original proportions, composition, and visual language of iconic paintings while translating them into a fully immersive 3D environment.

For the client, preserving the defining characteristics of the original artworks was essential. The challenge lay in translating historically significant paintings into a spatial, 360° environment without distorting their composition, scale, or atmosphere. Any deviation or unnecessary addition risked breaking the visual integrity of the pieces, making accuracy and restraint as important as technical execution.

Solution

Solution

Solution

Ensuring artistic fidelity through close collaboration and precise 3D reconstruction.

Throughout the process, the environment was developed in close collaboration with fine art professionals to ensure alignment with the original intent of the paintings. Careful research and measurement were carried out to define accurate scale, proportions, and spatial relationships for the 3D reconstruction.

Textures were derived directly from the artworks themselves, using custom UVs to preserve brushwork and material qualities. This approach minimized unnecessary additions, resulting in a faithful recreation adapted for immersive, large-scale projection.
